What actually happens.
Most people put off seeing a cardiologist because they do not know what they are walking into. Here is the whole thing, start to finish, so there are no surprises.
Step one
Before you come in.
You do not need a referral from your GP to see Dr Jogiya privately. You can book directly. If you are claiming on private health insurance your insurer will usually want a referral and an authorisation number first, so it is worth ringing them before you book.
His NHS clinics at Kingston Hospital and at Guy's and St Thomas' are a different route and those do need a referral from your GP or another consultant.
When you send a booking request it goes to the booking team at the clinic you chose, and Dr Jogiya is copied on it. That clinic contacts you to agree a time. Nothing is booked until they do.

The appointment itself.

Follow ups are £200. Tests are billed separately by the clinic.
He will ask you to describe what has been happening in your own words, then go through your history, your family history and anything you already take. He will examine you, listen to your heart and check your blood pressure and pulse.
If he thinks you need a test he will tell you which one and why. That might be something simple like an ECG, or a monitor you wear at home for a few days, or a scan. Whether a test can be done at the clinic on the day depends on the clinic, so ask when you book.
Step three
Before you leave.
You should walk out knowing three things. What he thinks is going on, whether you need any tests and what they are for, and what happens next.
If any of that is not clear, say so before you leave the room. It is a normal thing to ask and it is much easier than working it out afterwards.
If you do need tests, the clinic arranges them and you come back to go through the results together. That is what the follow up appointment is for.

Questions people ask
The things worth knowing first.
Do I need a referral from my GP?

Will my private health insurance cover it?
Dr Jogiya is recognised by Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality, Cigna, WPA and Healix. Check with your own insurer before you book, because most will want a referral from your GP and an authorisation number first, and the amount they pay can differ from the self pay price. If your insurer is not on that list, ring us and we will tell you where you stand.
What does an appointment cost?
£250 for a new appointment and £200 for a follow up, paying for yourself. Some fees change with the location and the length of the appointment, so check with the clinic before you book. If private health insurance is covering your treatment, prices may differ from the self pay prices above.
How long will the appointment last?
30 minutes for a new appointment, which is enough time for a full history and an examination, and 20 minutes for a follow up to go through results and adjust treatment.
Can I be seen by video instead of coming in?
Yes. Virtual consultations are available by video from anywhere in the UK, and they cost the same as coming in. Choose the virtual option when you book. Some things do need you in the room, an examination or a test for instance, and he will tell you if that is the case.
Where would I be seen?
He holds private clinics at 4 centres across Kingston upon Thames and London, and NHS clinics at two hospitals. Every address, phone number and email is on the clinic locations page, so you can pick whichever is easiest to get to.
What should I bring with me?
Any previous test results, scans or letters from another doctor, a list of the medicines you take with the doses, anything you are allergic to, and the questions you actually want answered. Writing the questions down beforehand is worth doing, because it is easy to forget them once you are in the room.
How quickly will somebody get back to me?
We aim to reply to an enquiry within two business days. A booking request goes straight to the booking team at the clinic you chose, and they contact you to agree a date. If you have not heard anything, call 07860 659 380 and we will chase it.
Is Dr Jogiya on the GMC register?
Yes. He is on the GMC Specialist Register in cardiology, registration number 6105400, and you can check that on the GMC's public register. He also holds substantive NHS consultant posts at Kingston Hospital and at Guy's and St Thomas'.
What if my symptom is happening right now?
Do not use the booking form. Chest pain that does not settle, sudden severe breathlessness, or a collapse needs emergency care, so call 999. For urgent advice that is not an emergency, call 111.
